S2, Ep 1: Is Authenticity Possible without Race?

October 1, 2022

Being Unapologetically Authentic, Season 2, Ep 1 In this season of Being Unapologetically Authentic, we continue to explore the intersectionality of authenticity and success but with an ethnic flare this time.

Growing up, I was told I had to be and act a certain way in order to succeed. Most of the advice I received was seeped in cultural expectations that kept me from achieving the success that I desired. I am here to break these norms apart for you so you can learn from my mistakes! My story is not unique, which is why I cannot wait for you to meet my guests this season.

Powerful guests with powerful stories that will inspire you to live to your fullest potential.

From Teacher to World Class Travel Agent, Harmony Skillman

From Teacher to World Class Travel Agent, Harmony Skillman

April 25, 2022

In this episode of Being Unapologetically Authentic, I speak with award-winning travel agent, Harmony Skillman, about how she shifted her career from teacher to travel agent.

Despite having started her career as a middle and high school math teacher, Harmony never truly felt fulfilled. She always had a feeling that there was something out there better for her even though she couldn't pinpoint it. Transitioning her career was scary though, especially as she turned 40 years old and had two young kids at home.

Instead of giving into her fears and staying stuck in a job she didn't love anymore, she began to follow her interests, which eventually led her to the travel industry.

Tune in more to learn how Harmony responded to the pandemic and how she has created an award-winning travel business.

Being Unapologetically Authentic with Guest, Alisha Wolf

Being Unapologetically Authentic with Guest, Alisha Wolf

April 1, 2022

Join me and guest, Alisha Wolf, in this episode of Being Unapologetically Authentic. Alisha is the founder of Goldfinch Wellness, as well as a Therapist and Executive Coach. What really caught my attention about Alisha is that she integrates Buddhis psychology into her therapy. As a Buddhist practitioner, it's great to have an opportunity to chat with others and learn how they incorporate Buddhism into their daily lives.

Alisha started her career as a social worker but in doing her own deep therapeutic work, as well as diving into the world of meditation and Buddhist psychology, Alisha found a different way to practice therapy. She moved from feeling directionless and unsure, to feeling genuinely connected to herself and what she wanted.  She settled into herself—her decisions came from her wisdom, instead of being rooted in fear and anxiety. She was also able to show up differently at her job, where she led her team with a sense of stability and clarity.

This was such a fun conversation with Alisha. To learn more about Goldfinch Wellness, you can find her at Goldfinch Wellness.

Alisha is also offering listeners of this episode a free meditation:

Creating a 7-figure business with LadyBoss Founder, Tasha DaCosta

March 11, 2022

In this episode of Being Unapologetically Authentic, we are joined by guest, Tasha DaCosta.

Tasha is a Business and Mindset Coach at tashadacosta.com and a 7-figure Business Owner at ladybossstudio.com. Her goal, beyond work/life balance and being there for her family, is to empower and help other female business owners to create and design a business and life they love.

She left corporate when she realized that the 9-5 routine wasn't working for her anymore once she became a mom. Tasha knew that she needed more work-life balance, which is when she started her Virtual Assistant business (which was not a common service in Canada at the time). Despite concerns from her husband's doubts that it wasn't a "real business", Tasha took the leap and never looked back!

Since taking that initial step towards entrepreneurship, Tasha's life has changed! She has not only evolved over time to create a 7-figure business, Tasha has also  recently started a second business, as well as create a work-life balance that allows her to be present with her family, which was a key priority for her.

Tune in to hear how Tasha moved past her own excuses and fear to create a life she loves.
